  Campus Corps Position Needs

Positions in the Campus Corps program require an administrative fee indicated below. You will be invoiced for the number of slots requested. If a member is unable to complete his/her term of service, you may be eligible for a refund if the member has completed less than 15% of the required hours and if the OCE is notified within 30 days of the member's exit.

This should describe the specific tasks and service responsibilities expected of the member and should focus on the unmet community needs being addressed. * Keep in mind that AmeriCorps members may only spend 10% of their time fundraising for their specific project or initiative and not generally for their organization. AmeriCorps members may not lobby or proselytize as part of their service activities. In addition, it is not appropriate for AmeriCorps members to perform clerical work (e.g., filing, typing, copying) unless it is directly related to the project the member is coordinating.

As the Project Site, your organization shall: • Designate an on-site supervisor who shall be responsible for regular meetings with the UM Campus Corps Member to ensure progress towards stated goals and can monitor the Campus Corps Member’s performance. • Ensure that the staff and board of your organization recognize the need for a UM Campus Corps Member and are open to participation with the OCE. • Provide the UM Campus Corps Member with: 1) A thorough orientation to the organization’s philosophy, mission, program, policies, and procedures. 2) Specific training necessary for the member to perform direct service activities within the organization. 3) An outline of additional expectations not covered in the position description. 4) An introduction to site staff. • Provide the member with appropriate work space and resources to compete the duties outlined in his/her position description. • Understand that all changes to the member’s position description must receive prior approval by the OCE supervisor. • Provide the assessment information needed by the member to complete their quarterly reports in a timely manner, in accordance with the program calendar. • Ensure that the UM Campus Corps Member’s service is directly tied to and supports progress toward the program objectives. • Provide reimbursement of the member’s expenses incurred while performing duties or functions specific to your organization or project either locally (e.g. copies, materials, supplies, etc) or out of town (e.g. transportation costs to attend a meeting or training at your request). • Participate in a performance evaluation of the UM Campus Corps Member twice per academic year by providing input to the OCE campus-based supervisor. • Not engage the UM Campus Corps Member in activities prohibited by the Montana Campus Corps or AmeriCorps (see attached document). • Hold the Office for Civic Engagement at the University of Montana harmless from any charge, fine, penalty, or judgment arising out of or in any way resulting from the UM Campus Corps Member’s performance in carrying out the activities outlined in this agreement. • Notify the campus-based supervisor at the OCE immediately should any problems or unexpected occurrence happen during the member’s term of service (e.g. change in leadership, supervision, or major changes in the direction of the organization) which might impact the UM Campus Corps Member. • Notify the campus-based supervisor at the OCE immediately if the UM Campus Corps Member is injured and take all reasonable and prudent steps to ensure the safety of the member while in service to your organization. • Cooperate with the OCE regarding public relations announcements, materials, and media interactions concerning the UM Campus Corps program. Assist with public relations and awareness efforts through the display of banners, etc. when appropriate.
